PUNK. Second release from these Montreal punkers! CCSS was originally the side project of Steve and Sam from INEPSY. They decided to dedicate their inspiration to late seventies/early eighties punk rock. They toured with Born/Dead in 2005 and soon after, they became a full time band. CCSS reminds me of early UK punk ala ONE WAY SYSTEM, GBH mixed up with Americans like CRUCIFIX, The GERMS, and DEAD BOYS. This band’s the most original thing to have come out of the crust punk scene in recent years.…This new ep includes three super catchy songs + a very good version of DICKS "Hate the police”.

HARDCORE. Available ca. 03.09.2010. Legions of Hardcore diehards would argue that C.I.A.’s "God guns guts" EP is one of the best US Hardcore singles to ever be released. Originally self-released in 1983, the 6 songs on the original 7” are absolutely flawless blasts of driving, intelligent, and furious hardcore. What could be better than this? A deluxe reissue that adds 5 original 7” session outtakes that have never been heard until now along with several other previously unreleased essential demos recorded just before the 7” came out. This all comes housed in a high-quality package featuring a UV laminated jacket, printed inner sleeve that features detailed liner notes and unpublished photos.

HARDCORE. Like most young Hardcore bands of today, C.O.P.’s sophomore release shows us a faster, more intense and musically complicated band that has gotten better with time. The lyrics have matured and they have shed the catchiness of the first EP to bring a brutal slab of SoCal Hardcore. Take the Nardcore sound of their first EP and the rapid-fire precision of POISON IDEA’s "Pick Your King" and you have the new C.O.P. 7". Although the songs are faster, tighter, and angrier, each song stands out, definitely not another Hardcore record that sounds like one long song. The best stuff yet from one of Southern Californian's best Hardcore bands.

HARDCORE. C.O.P. is a young ‘80s style hardcore group who are based out of Riverside California. Their sound is compared to old Mystic hardcore groups such as STALAG 13, R.K.L., and ILL REPUTE.

POST-PUNK. CALABI YAU hail from Charlotte, NC and have been around since 2004. They are currently working on a new LP/CD for release on Alone Records in late 2008. Over the last few years they've perfected combination of an upbringing listening to too much of the Skin Graft catalog, early no-wave, and a little D.C. post-punk rhythm and melody. They have a truly unique dual-guitar style with amazing drumming that relies much more on accents than beats, making a sound not unlike DNA. CALABI YAU have done several regional tours, one national tour. They also run the Yauhaus, a local DIY house-show staple. This is CALABI YAU's first vinyl release after one full-length CD on Din Din Records.

SINGER/SONGWRITER. CALE PARKS, influential and renowned drummer for ALOHA and WHITE WILLIAMS, is back with a new 6 track EP titled "To swift mars". With this release, Parks takes his songwriting to another level with immediate, concise pop structures that weave together electronic elements with full-bodied percussion and influences ranging from the overlapping arpeggios of Philip Glass to the early solo work of Peter Gabriel.

Den Anfang machen HEAVEN SHALL BURN und die beiden neuen Songs ''Unleash enlightment'' und ''No one will shed a tear'' setzen genau da an, wo ''Antigone'' aufgehoert hat. Fettes Goeteborg-Riffing, donnernde Doublebasseinlagen und kreischender Metalgesang sind hier the law. Weiter geht es mit ''Nyfaedd von'', einem Instrumental im Stile von klassischen Metalcore-Intros. Danach der Track ''If this is a man'' von der Split mit FALL OF SERENITY, den sie neu aufgenommen haben und zuguterletzt noch die beiden Coverversionen, ''Downfall of Christ'' von MERAUDER und ''Destroy fascism'' von ENDSTAND. Weiter geht es mit CALIBAN und deren ''The revenge'', einem brandneuen Song, der auch auf der letzten Platte haette sein koennen. Danach dann ''Arena of concealment'' vom zweiten Album ''Small boy and a grey heaven'' und ''One day'' vom ersten Teil des Split- Programs, beide Songs ebenfalls neu eingespielt. Zum Schluss wurde dann ausserdem noch ''One more lie'' vom selbstbetitelten Debut neu eingeknueppelt. Alles in allem eine unglaublich fett produzierte und dicke Scheibe, an der Fans und Sammler ihre Freude haben werden. Wer jedoch mit viel neuem Material gerechnet hatte, wird hier leider enttaeuscht werden. Bemerkenswert ist in jedem Fall das gute Artwork der CD, die zudem noch im schicken Slipcase kommt und das Vinyl als limitierte Picture LP. Value for money ist hier also wirklich gegeben.

HARDCORE. With two self released EPs and two full lengths with Eulogy Recordings, Calico System have built a ravenous fanbase for thier brand of chaotic, melody laced, metalcore. Having toured with such bands as STORY OF THE YEAR, HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS, CHIODOS, EVERGREEN TERRACE, and KITTIE, CALICO SYSTEM have proved they are not affraid to work hard to bring thier music to the masses. Expect a hectic tour schedule around the release of "Outside are the Vultures". CALICO SYSTEM are sure to not let up anytime soon.

POST-PUNK. When Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s CALL ME LIGHTNING dropped their debut album "The trouble we’re in" three years ago, it was a breath of fresh air. Arriving by surprise on Revelation Records label, usually home to more thuggish brands of punk rock, CALL ME LIGHTNING stood out from their labelmates with an inspired, if at times inconsistent, style of streamlined post-punk. Three years have since passed, and for their sophomore effort CALL ME LIGHTNING have entered the studio with Steve Albini in 2006 to try to harness their frenetic post-punk sound that has been influenced by the likes of The TALKING HEADS, The JESUS LIZARD and more. Now available on colored vinyl.

The Trouble We're In, the debut full length CD from Milwaukee's Call Me Lightning, blends spastic guitars with driving no wave rhythms. Call Me Lightning's sound brings together the more frantic moments of The Talking Heads' early days with the freak-out riffs and wild vocal style of The Jesus Lizard. Throw in some lyric styling reminicent of The Minutemen and you have a powerful combination.
