PUNK. DEVIL'S BRIGADE are an all-star Punk group featuring Matt Freeman and Tim Armstrong of RANCID and DJ Bonebrake, drummer of X and the KNITTERS. RANCID fans have always cherished Matt’s deep Punk growl on his featured songs on RANCID albums, and now DEVIL'S BRIGADE brings his singing, Rockabilly-inspired bass slap, and classic Punk songwriting to the fore. With Tim Armstrong’s Duane Eddy lead guitar and the rock-steady rhythm of DJ Bonebrake, DEVIL'S BRIGADE offers up 12 songs that mix equal parts JOHNNY CASH, the POGUES, and Sun Rockabilly, in a combustible cocktail that will have fans slamming on this fall’s tour with the STREET DOGS. On tracks like “Bridge of Gold” with vocals by Armstrong, the band stretches out, adding mandolin and banjo to their sound, while “Ride Harley Ride” features some slinky vibraphone. With guest vocals from RANCID’s Lars Frederikson, thousands of RANCID fans will want to own this album, but with a national tour this fall, DEVIL'S BRIGADE will have a life all of their own.

PUNK. Their first album, 2004's "My god is alive! Sorry about yours!", combined gut-level Garage Punk music and unrepentant Christian lyrics to make Christian Rock relevant in a way it had never been before. The Pharisees of the Christian Rock establishment were quick to make their disapproval known, and the KNIGHTS OF THE NEW CRUSADE answered with their Kierkegaardean opus Knight Beat: A Challenge to the Cowards of Christendom, a rallying cry for true disciples of Christ who were tired of the hypocritical Christianity prevalent in our society. Now, the Knights and Alternative Tentacles bring you "Knight vision": Hymns for the Invisible Church, a rich and deep tapestry displaying their spiritual, intellectual, and musical development. An Eastern mysticism may be identified amid the solid Garage Rock foundations, but do not let such elements obfuscate the nature of Knights' dedication to Christendom.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Debut LP from this Boston punk band who seemed to catch everyone's ear with a slew of great singles and 7"s over the past few years. LIBYANS have always segued seamlessly between blistering, catchy Hardcore and huge, anthemic Punk in the mold of the AVENGERS, but "A common place" takes both of those approaches to new levels of intensity and artistry. If you're not circle pitting to "Blood and rust," or if you don't have your fist in the air during the chorus to "Paralyzed", I may have to question whether you have any soul left in you. PUNK-ROCK. Memphis is home to several of Rock's most endearingly off-kilter rock storytellers, from Jim Dickinson to Jeffrey Evans to Ross Johnson. To that list, one can now add Shawn Cripps, leader of The LIMES. On the band's debut full-length ''Rhinestone River'' Cripps retains the musical talents of HARLAN T. BOBO, who previously helped on The LIMES' ''Rock 'n' Roll Heart'' single. Bobo's hypnotic keyboards perfectly complement Cripps's gritty guitar work and vocals, particularly on "Sounds Like a Shimmy. "Rhinestone River'' also features contributions by Memphis scene stalwarts Ross Johnson, Paul Buchignani (Afghan Whigs, Bobo's backing band), Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds, River City Tanlines) and Bruce Saltmarsh ('68 Comeback, Porch Ghouls). "Rhinestone River" is the closest an American band has gotten to the pickled poetry of the COUNTRY TEASERS.

STREETPUNK. Mike McColgan, frontman, singer and songwriter for Boston’s beloved Punkrock quintet STREET DOGS, has lived the life that other bands just sing about. As the founding frontman of DROPKICK MURPHYS, McColgan helped bring his experiences as a Gulf War combat veteran to the uncompromising, working class sound that launched that band. But in 1998, following a family tradition, McColgan left the band and music to become a Boston firefighter. Four years later, he began jamming on nights off with some old friends from the Boston Punk scene; he found he needed the voice that only fronting a band could give him, and the STREET DOGS were born.
